We Want The Funk Announces Closure After Three Years
After three years of serving the Santa Barbara community, the popular We Want The Funk has announced it will be closing its doors. Owners Ted and Greer Ellis shared that the difficult decision was made to prioritize family time and focus on their next chapter.
The restaurant, known for its vibrant atmosphere and dedication to local music and culture, has expressed deep gratitude to the community, thanking loyal customers, staff, and neighboring businesses for their support. The owners acknowledged their appreciation for the Funk Zone’s dynamic small business scene, including La Lieff Wines, Shalhoob Patio, and Dart Coffee, among others.
While saying farewell to their restaurant is bittersweet, the Ellis family emphasized their love for the Santa Barbara community and the memories they’ve built. Though the doors of We Want The Funk will close, they reassured patrons that they will still be around and remain a part of the local scene.
