Valentine’s Day Speed Dating Event Coming to Goleta’s Centennial Beer Hall

Singles in Santa Barbara/Goleta looking for love or just a fun night out will have the perfect opportunity this Valentine’s Day. Centennial Beer Hall in Old Town Goleta is hosting a Valentine’s Night Speed Dating Event on February 14. The event promises an evening filled with quick-paced dating rounds, interactive games, and prizes to keep the energy high. Click here to learn more.

2025 Junior Lifeguard Program Application Deadline Approaching

The deadline to apply for the 2025 Junior Lifeguard Program is fast approaching, with applications due by Friday, February 28 at 4:59 PM PST. Prospective participants must complete the application before attending a tryout.

Tryouts will take place on March 8 and March 15 at Arroyo Burro Beach County Park (Hendry’s Beach). Candidates must complete a 1,000-meter ocean swim in under 20 minutes to qualify for an interview. Wetsuits, goggles, and swim caps are permitted during the swim.

Interviews will be conducted immediately after tryouts on the same day. Applicants are encouraged to review all requirements carefully and prepare in advance. More details can be found in the application, which is available via the provided link here.

Idyll Mercantile Celebrates Four Years in Santa Barbara with Community Event

Santa Barbara’s Idyll Mercantile is marking four years in business with a lively anniversary celebration on Saturday, February 15, from 11 AM to around 4 PM at 703 Chapala St.

The event will feature DJs, brunch, a flower ball-making station, and a plant sale, creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere for the community to come together. Guests can sip, snack, shop, and enjoy the music while celebrating four years of small business success in Santa Barbara.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their friends and join the festivities in support of this beloved local shop!

New California “Daylighting” Law Now in Effect to Improve Pedestrian Safety

California’s “Daylighting” law took effect on January 1, 2025, restricting parking near intersections and crosswalks to improve visibility and pedestrian safety. Drivers should review the new rules to avoid violations and contribute to safer streets. See the details in the post here.
